Yamhill-Carlton

Gregory Ranch

Gregory Ranch Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, Willamette Valley

Gregory Ranch is a 26-acre estate vineyard tucked into the foothills of the Coast Range in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, surrounded by oak and Douglas fir. Planted in 2007, it is farmed biodynamically with great care, and it has been part of de la boue since the 2020 vintage.

The vineyard wraps around four distinct exposures. Our Pinot Noir comes from Block 1, which faces southeast: it catches the early morning sun and stays shielded from the late afternoon heat. Our Chardonnay comes from Block 7, clone 76, on a west-facing slope at about 450 feet, the hillside drawn on our Chardonnay label.

Marine sedimentary soils hold heat and drain well, so the grapes ripen fully at lower sugar levels while the nightly coastal cool-down keeps acidity bright. We pick the Chardonnay early, almost as if for sparkling wine, to keep the salinity and lift this site is known for. The Pinot Noir is dense and concentrated, with savory character and serious aging potential. Gregory Ranch is usually the first fruit to arrive at the winery each harvest.
