Bieze
Bieze Vineyard joined de la boue in 2023 thanks to a text from our friends at Arabilis, who connected us with grower Jerry Bieze. He had a little Pinot Blanc that his buyers didn’t have room for. It was only a ton, but it was worth it just for the connection to a very special place. Today we source both Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc from the site.
Bieze is perched above Seven Springs Vineyard and Lingua Franca in the Eola-Amity Hills. Its shallow, well-drained volcanic soils push the vines to dig deep for water, while maritime winds from the Pacific shelter the site from extreme heat and bring cool nights for slow, gentle ripening.
The Pinot Blanc was meant for our 2023 white blend, but it tasted so good that Travis set two barrels aside for a single-vineyard bottling of just 50 cases. Fermented slowly in neutral barrels and aged on its lees, it shows vivid aromatics, a savory, saline edge and a creamy texture held together by bright acidity.
